About
Professor Winter is a Consultant Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Surgeon in Oxford with a private practice based at the Manor Hospital, Oxford and an NHS consultant practice based at the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals.
Professor Winter is able to offer advice on a broad range of ENT problems for adults only. He is able to offer advice and treatment for conditions including salivary gland problems, sinus disease, ear problems, Snoring, Dysphagia (swallowing problems), Hearing loss/tinnitus, Nasal polyps, Neck lumps, and head and neck cancer.
Professor Winter has a specialist interest in tumours of the head and neck, both benign and malignant. He is a recognised national expert in the treatment and management of tumours. He is a member of the Oxford Head and Neck Multidisciplinary team and lead consultant for head and neck surgery in Oxford.

Research
Stuart Winter is an Associate Professor in the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences. University of Oxford. He has experience in setting up and running clinical trials and is the chief investigator on a number of trials, including the GRRAND, as well as a co-applicant on a number of other NIHR trials.
He is the principal investigator on several national portfolio trials, including MOSES, EVEREST, PATHOS, and RESCUE.
He has successfully supervised several DPhil and MD students and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, as well as several books and book chapters.
He is currently on the board of the BAHNO (British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists), on the council of the ENT-UK Head and Neck group, and a member of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Head and Neck Clinical Studies Group.
He has worked with the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) to produce the following guidelines: Cancer of the upper aerodigestive tract: update. FDG PET-CT scans to inform decisions about surgery after radical chemoradiotherapy. https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/NG36 2018; and Cancer of the upper aerodigestive tract: assessment and management in people aged 16 and over.
