About
Mr Thomas Jenyon is a consultant eye surgeon specialising in micro-incision cataract surgery, corneal and external eye disease. His cataract expertise includes complex cases, patients with previous laser refractive surgery, astigmatism, and the use of premium intraocular lenses (IOLs) to reduce spectacle dependence. He has significant experience in refractive lens exchange and works with the latest IOL technology to achieve world-class results.
Mr Jenyon trained at University College London, where he qualified with distinction, and within the West Midlands. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the Royal College of Physicians. His contributions to ophthalmology have been recognized with national and international prizes, and he continues to publish in the field.
As one of only a few surgeons proficient in Descemet’s Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) corneal transplants, Mr. Jenyon consistently achieves excellent results in this highly specialised procedure. He is based in Shrewsbury and works at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, allowing him to coordinate care seamlessly between NHS and private patients, particularly for complex cases.
Dedicated to medical education, Mr. Jenyon has twice received the Recognising Excellence in Medical Education award and has also been honoured as Trainer of the Year. He continues to teach cataract and corneal surgery to the next generation of corneal surgeons.
Mr Jenyon takes time to listen to patients' needs and helps guide them through their options, whether it be cataract, lens, or laser surgery, ensuring they receive the best possible care.
