About

Mr Hillard trained at Southampton University Medical School and completed his postgraduate training at King's College Hospital, London. He became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in 1987 and a Fellow in 1999. He is also a Fellow of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health.

In 1994, Mr Hillard was appointed as Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he is established the Urogynaecology department and Menopause Clinic. He offers a comprehensive gynaecological service for most common disorders such as menstrual problems, fibroids, pelvic pain, endometriosis, bleeding problems and ovarian cysts. Mr Hillard has a specialist interest in uro-gynaecology and menopause and has expertise in laparoscopic (key hole), vaginal and abdominal surgery carrying out a wide range of surgical procedures including laparoscopic hysterectomy and surgery for pelvic floor prolapse and urinary incontinence. He is a recognised Menopause specialist and trainer and established the first menopause clinic in Dorset.

He is a current Board member of the British Menopause Society (BMS) and was Chairman 2007-2009. He is currently one of two European representatives on the Board of International Menopause Society and is European associate editor of their journal (Climacteric). Until 2019 he was Clinical lead for patient safety at the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG) and is past Chairman of NHS England Patient Safety Expert Group. He is a Patron of The Daisy Network (Charity for Women with premature ovarian insufficiency) and a medical advisor to Women’s Health Concern (charity which is patient arm of BMS). .
