About
Mr Jones is a consultant neurosurgeon with a sub-specialty practice in adult neuro-oncological surgery as well as surgical treatment for facial pain (trigeminal neuralgia) and hemi-facial spasms (HFS). He also manages patients with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) as well as degenerative spinal disorders.
Mr Jones treats patients with meningiomas, brain metastases and malignant gliomas, employing techniques such as intra-operative ultrasound, 5-ALA (gliolan), image guidance, and awake mapping to achieve the best outcomes for his patients. Mr Jones employs cutting-edge intra-operative electrophysiology monitoring techniques for brain tumour surgery as well as during microvascular decompression surgery (MVD) for hemifacial spasm (HFS).
Mr Jones qualified from Imperial College London with a first-class honours BSc in 2000 before obtaining MBBS in 2002. He completed his neurosurgical training in London and obtained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) in 2005 and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Surgical Neurology (FRCS SN) in 2013. Mr Jones was awarded the Norman Dott Medal for the most outstanding performance in the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (neurosurgery) exam in 2013.
During his training, Mr Jones spent 3 years as the Rupert Johnson Fellow in Neurosurgery at St George’s and was awarded a PhD from the University of London into the role of advanced magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of brain tumours which was funded by a Royal College of Surgeons Research Fellowship. Mr Jones is a member of the Society of British Neurological Surgeons. He completed a Marjorie Newsome Travelling Observership at the Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix in 2015.
