About

Ms Amerasinghe is an expert in the latest surgical, diagnostic and management techniques in Ophthalmology (including Cataract surgery) ensuring you will have the best current practice available. She aims to provide a personalised, rapid and reliable care to all her patients.

Ms Amerasinghe graduated from St Mary's Hospital Medical School, Imperial College, London in 1998. She started her Ophthalmology career in Norwich in the Wessex Ophthalmology rotation which included advanced speciality training in Glaucoma at Southampton and Portsmouth Hospitals. She then undertook a further two years advanced training as a Clinical Glaucoma Research Fellow at the world renowned Singapore National Eye Centre. She also completed a Clinical Glaucoma Fellowship Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

During her training Ms Ameraisnghe received a number of awards and scholarships in recognition for her sustained clinical and academic excellence.

Ms Amerasinghe was a Locum Consultant at Moorfields before working as a Consultant at both St Richard's Hospital, Chichester and Worthing Hospital. She currently works as an Consultant at the University Hospital Southampton.

Personal interests

Related experience

Research

Ms Amerasinghe completed a large research project looking at the Heritability of Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma. This was a joint collaboration with Singapore National Eye Centre and the Institute of Ophthalmology, University College London.

She has published extensively in the major ophthalmology journals around the world, written textbook chapters and has presented internationally and nationally many times on Glaucoma and General Ophthalmology.

Ms Amerasinghe regularly reviews academic and research articles for the leading journals in Ophthalmology.
