Prof P.G. Roy is an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford, a Retained Lecturer at Pembroke College, University of Oxford and a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals in the UK. She was responsible for setting up a high-quality oncoplastic breast surgery unit in Oxford with active engagement in education, training, clinical trials, and research.
Prof Roy is the Director (clinical) for cancer services at Oxford University Hospitals and is actively engaged in managing the performance of cancer activities and monitoring the delivery of targets across the trust.
Prof Roy graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, India and obtained an MD degree in research from Dundee University, UK, focusing on molecular markers in breast cancer. She did her higher surgical training in Oxford, followed by a National Oncoplastic Breast fellowship in Nottingham, UK.
She is the principal investigator for several national and international trials in breast surgery and has published several papers and book chapters on Oncoplastic breast surgery. She is the Surgery Specialty lead for the South Central England cancer research delivery network. She is a tutor for ABS breast surgery courses, course director of the internationally renowned ABS-OOPS (Oxford Oncoplastic Breast Surgery course) and an examiner for the UK Intercollegiate FRCS exam. She has trained several national and international fellows in oncoplastic breast surgery and has a focus on improving breast cancer care globally.
Prof. Roy is passionate about holistic care for patients undergoing cancer treatment. She is the founder trustee of Oxford Breast Buddy Group, a registered Charity in UK, to facilitate emotional and psychological support to women with breast cancer.
