About

Hugh was appointed as a consultant nephrologist at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust in 2004. He was awarded a visiting Professor post at the University of Southampton in 2017.

He has a particular interest in the translation of evidence into practice, and has led and participated in several national research and improvement programmes funded by the Health Foundation and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). He has contributed to guideline development with NICE, serving on the Guideline Development Group for CKD, Renal Replacement Therapy, Gout, Diabetes and CV Disease Prevention.

He was a member of the work group that developed a UK National Renal Research Strategy, and is co-Chief Investigator of the ATTACK trial of aspirin for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in CKD funded by NIHR and the British Heart Foundation.
