About

Professor Jay Chatterjee is a Senior Consultant Gynaecology and Gynae-oncology surgeon at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust at Guildford. Prof Chatterjee provides all aspects of surgical gynaecology and gynae-oncology care to his patients. He is internationally known for his surgical expertise in complex open, advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He provides complex surgical care to patients diagnosed with gynaecological cancers and is well known for his fertility-preserving surgical approach for relevant patients. He is a menopause and colposcopy specialist as well and is an accredited trainer.

Prof Chatterjee did his academic doctoral program at the prestigious Imperial College, London (Division of Surgery and Cancer, Institute of Reproductive and Development Biology, Hammersmith campus). His PhD focussed on an immune inhibitory pathway in ovarian cancer. He has published extensively in his chosen field of specialisation.

Prof Chatterjee leads his academic group in various universities in London and Surrey. He is presently researching into discovery of biomarkers in gynaecological cancers and risk stratification of patients who are at high risk of developing these cancers so that preventative strategies can be utilised by novel predictive algorithms to prevent the occurrence of these cancers. He has published on clinical interventions as part of personalised cancer care to improve outcomes from gynaecological cancers.

Known for his patient-centred care, Prof Chatterjee is recognised for putting an onus on the most up-to-date clinical techniques in order to ensure that he can provide the utmost in patient care.
