About

Professor Manish Kiran is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford and Queen Mary's Hospital, London. He is also an Honorary Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Hitech Medical College and Hospital. He is the Orthopaedic Clinical Lead for Trauma services at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. He was a Team Doctor for British Judo.

He specializes in complex Primary and Revision Total Hip replacement, Unicompartmental and Total Knee replacement and sports injuries of the knee requiring keyhole surgery like anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) and meniscal tear. He performs 'Clipless' Total Hip and Knee replacements which reduces the risk of infection and improves patient experience. He has a keen interest in complex trauma, enhanced recovery and rehabilitation.

He is a reputed researcher with over 25 publications in international peer reviewed journals and has delivered over 50 invited lectures and presentations at national and international conferences. He has a keen interest in training the next generation of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and regularly teaches on various FRCS(Tr&Orth) and Royal College of Surgeons courses.

He graduated from the prestigious Madras Medical College in India and completed his orthopaedic training in the UK, where he was awarded the Ian Smillie Award for Academic Excellence during his Masters course, MCh(Orth), at the University of Dundee. He completed lower limb and complex trauma fellowships at many world renowned centres in the UK and in Germany. He has previously worked as a Consultant at the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Trust and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust.
