Professor Richard Simcock has been a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust for more than 20 years.
He was an undergraduate at St Thomas’s Hospital and completed postgraduate training in London and Sydney before moving to Brighton.
He supervises hormone therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biological therapies and radiotherapy treatments for all stages of breast cancer.
Professor Simcock is an Honorary Professor at Brighton and Sussex Medical Schools. He is Co-Editor of the ‘ABC of Cancer Care’ and on the Editorial Board of BMJ Oncology.
He is the current author of the International Menopause Society guidelines on treatment of menopause after breast cancer.
Since 2022 Professor Simcock has been Chief Medical Officer at Macmillan Cancer Support where he co-leads the Centre of Clinical Expertise. He regularly produces a blog for Macmillan entitled ‘What’s New in Cancer’ as well as posting on ‘X’ (Twitter) as @BreastDocUK. He is also a medical advisor for the charity ‘Mummy’s Star’ which

Prof Simcock is currently leading UK-wide work on the use of Hormone Replacement Therapy after breast cancer diagnosis.
