About
Professor Wasim Khan is an Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge, as well as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in trauma and knee surgery, based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. After graduating from Manchester University in 1999, he completed his orthopaedic training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore where he was a Lecturer at University College London, from 2010-14. He completed national (Bristol and Cardiff) and international (Europe and Australia) clinical fellowships before starting work in Cambridge in 2016.
Professor Khan has a particular interest in primary and complex knee replacements as well as revision knee replacements, and these are the only elective surgeries he performs.
Professor Khan is currently seeing NHS patients only.

Research
Professor Khan has a research interest in stem cell sources, characterisation, differentiation and clinical applications. He aims to identify better ways of treating arthritis and developing cell-based treatments. He was awarded a MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship to complete a PhD looking at chondrogenesis in MSCs at Manchester University. He was also awarded the Syme Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons. He completed an Orthopaedic Academic Clinical Training programme at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and University College London before starting work in Cambridge. He has authored over 300 papers, 50 chapters and 5 books.
