If you have an unusual growth (lesion) or tumour on your penis your consultant may recommend taking a biopsy (sample) for analysis in a pathology lab.
There are several biopsy methods used depending on the size and location of the lesion:
Your consultant may also recommend excising (totally removing) the lesion which will be sent for analysis.
These procedures are usually performed under local anaesthetic on an outpatient basis meaning you will be able to go home shortly after the procedures.
