Chondroplasty at Chichester Hospital
- Overview
Chondroplasty is a surgical procedure to remove damaged cartilage in a joint.
It is very often performed during an arthroscopic (examination through a microscope) procedure to examine a painful joint.
During chondroplasty your consultant will shave off damaged or rough areas of cartilage allowing for smoother joint movement. This procedure also enhances growth of healthy cartilage.
With any surgical procedure there can be complications with Chondroplasty:
- Pain
- Bleeding
- Swelling
- Infection
- Blood Clots (Deep vein thrombosis)
Visit our treatment page for more information on the many arthroscopic procedures our consultants perform.
