General Radiology or as it is more commonly known, x-ray, is the most common form of medical imaging. It is the simplest and fastest way to assess broken bones or injuries. Examinations of an area such as the chest, spine or other extremities are imaged electronically and viewed on a computer monitor. A Consultant Radiologist would then read and report on the results.
A referral is required from a medical practitioner to ensure this is the correct diagnostic method for you. As well as General Radiology we are equipped with a Digital Fluoroscopy Unit.
This allows us to carry out more specialised General Radiology requests such as:
- All GI (Gastro-Intestinal) Barium Studies including Barium Swallow, Barium Meal, Small Bowel Enema and Barium Enema
- Arthrography – in particular Shoulder and Hip joint
- Gastric Band Assessment
These examinations all require a referral from a medical practitioner.
