Microsuction of the ear canal (ear wax clearance) procedure 

Mr Banerjee uses a minimally invasive technique for Ear Wax Clearance known as microsuction. Using no liquids, this is an extremely safe and comfortable method of ear wax removal. The use of a microscope provides a clear view of the ear canal and eardrum to allow the miniature suction device to gently remove the wax in a controlled and effective manner. It does not carry the same risks of trauma and infection that can be associated with syringing or irrigation.

Most people tolerate microsuction very well and it is also safe for patients with a history of previous ear perforation. The use of wax softening drops such as olive oil, in the few days prior to microsuction, can help with the process. Typically most patients manage to have their ears cleared in one session.
