Pathology is a term used to describe a wide variety of tests on blood and other biological samples to assist consultants and doctors in treating their patients.
The Holly Hospital has an onsite Pathology Laboratory providing a range of pathology tests and investigations on blood and other biological specimens. With a combination of state-of-the-art instrumentation and computerisation, a highly experienced team of consultants and fully qualified biomedical scientists, we offer a fast, high quality and flexible service six days a week and an on-call service outside of these times.

Our services
Our pathology service includes:
- General Biochemistry
- General haematology
- Blood transfusion service
- Endocrinology
- Microbiology
- Other – any assays we are not able to perform onsite are sent to Reference Centres or hospital departments that meet our accreditation guidelines.
Your test
If your GP or consultant has referred you for a urine, stool sample or another biological test at The Holly Hospital, you will be given patient information leaflets ahead of your appointment that provide useful information on preparing for your test including fasting and sample collection.
Your results
Your results will be sent to your consultant, a GP or other healthcare professional who referred you for the test.
