Surgical treatments
Our specialist consultants have many years of experience performing the following surgical procedures:
Mastectomy
If you're diagnosed with breast cancer, your surgeon may recommend removal of your breast. This is called a mastectomy. Women at risk of developing breast cancer may also choose to have a mastectomy, for preventative reasons.
Breast reconstruction
If you've had a mastectomy, we can perform two types of breast reconstruction to create a breast shape:
Breast reconstruction (using an implant) - your surgeon will place an implant into a space under your chest muscle
Breast reconstruction (using latissimus dorsi flap) - your surgeon will use muscle from your back to reconstruct your breast.
Hysterectomy
A hysterectomy involves the surgical removal of a woman's uterus. We offer several types of hysterectomy surgery. Your surgeon will discuss the options and advise on the right procedure for you.
Labial reduction
A labial reduction (or Labiaplasty) is a surgical procedure to reduce the size or reshape the labia (the inner lips of the vagina).
Vaginal prolapse surgery
When the muscles and ligaments in your vagina become weak the organs (including your bladder, bowel or uterus) they support may push forward or prolapse. Your surgeon will repair the walls of your vagina by making small incisions and strengthening the supporting tissues with stitches.
Tests and scans
Using the latest medical equipment, we are able to offer you a quick and accurate diagnosis of a number of conditions, so that you're fully aware of your health.
Mammogram (breast screening)
The purpose of breast screening is to find women with breast cancer so that early treatment can be offered. Breast screening uses X-rays (called mammograms) to find cancers in the breast which are too small to feel.
Colposcopy
A colposcopy is an examination of vaginal and cervical tissues using a colposcope (microscope).
Cone Biopsy
A cone biopsy is performed to investigate abnormal cells in your cervix. A small cone-shaped area of tissue will be removed from your cervix and sent to a laboratory for analysis.
Hysteroscopy
To fully examine the inside of your uterus, a thin, flexible tube with a light at the end (a hysteroscope) is passed through your vagina into your womb. This allows your surgeon to look inside your womb and take tissue samples (biopsies) or remove small growths or fibroids.
