Why choose Nuffield Health Woking Hospital for your varicose vein treatment?

Many of those affected struggle with tired legs, severe swelling, throbbing pain, unsightly and swollen veins. They can also have other consequences such as bleeding, skin irritation and ulceration.

If you suffer from varicose veins and want to find out more about our specialist treatment please contact us at Nuffield Health Woking Hospital on 01483 227813 or make an enquiry below.

Varicose veins occur in the superficial veins in the leg. These veins have a system of valves which should ensure that the blood runs from the legs back up to the heart. Varicose veins occur when these valves fail, allowing blood to run back down into the veins in the leg, damming up in these veins and causing them to dilate and become varicose.

There are a number of factors which can contribute to developing varicose veins:

  • A family history of varicose veins
  • Being overweight
  • Lifestyle
  • Going through multiple pregnancies

People who are particularly active or who spend a lot of time standing such as teachers, waitresses, nurses and other service staff have an increased risk due to more pressure being put on their legs, as do those that carry out extensive heavy lifting.

Once varicose veins have appeared they will not disappear on their own. Left untreated varicose veins may become worse.

The introduction of minimally invasive techniques such as radiofrequency ablation which can be carried out under local anaesthetic to treat varicose veins means treatment is both quick and effective.

At Nuffield Health Woking Hospital we offer fast and safe radiofrequency ablation for varicose veins.

Benefits of radiofrequency ablation for varicose veins include:

  • Day case procedure (you go home the day of your procedure)
  • Reduced pain
  • Quick recovery time
  • Minimally invasive may mean less scarring.
