The tissue that attaches muscles to a bone is called a tendon. A tendon transfer usually is performed under a general anaesthetic.

Your surgeon will take a healthy tendon and move it to replace a damaged tendon in order to restore movement. The extent of your surgery will depend on what area is involved in the transfer.
