About

Mr Thomas is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement, the management of painful and failing hip and knee replacements, and benign musculoskeletal tumours. He offers consultation services, as well as hip and knee replacement, robotic hip and knee replacement, revision hip and knee replacement and benign musculoskeletal tumour assessment and surgical removal. Mr Thomas performed over 150 joint replacements in the last 12 months and has a <0.5% 1 year revision rate in the National Joint Registry.

Mr Thomas graduate Nottingham Medical School in 2008 and completed his specialist training in the West Midlands prior to fellowship training in Perth, Western Australia in Major Joint Reconstruction and the internationally renowned Exeter Hip Unit. Mr Thomas has additional qualifications in orthopaedic oncology and has a particular interest in the peri-operative patient experience, regularly performing day case hip and knee replacement.

Robot-arm assisted hip and knee replacements (MAKO, Stryker) are considered by many to be leading-edge technology in hip and knee surgery. Whilst the robot does not replace the surgeon, the pre-operative planning process helps to identify the ideal implant position for you and your joint, and the robot-arm assists in ensuring this implant position is achieved
