About

Mr Kailas Munot is a specialist consultant oncoplastic and cosmetic breast surgeon. After completing higher surgical training in Yorkshire in general surgery with a special interest in breast surgery he was awarded the coveted National Oncoplastic and Breast Reconstructive Fellowship. He was presented with a MD for his research into the genetics and epigenetics of breast cancer by the University of Leeds.

He works exclusively in breast surgery and is highly experienced in both breast cancer and reconstructive surgery as well as cosmetic breast surgery. Treating private patients since 2009, he has extensive experience in cosmetic breast surgical practice including breast enlargement, breast reduction, mastopexy (breast uplift), simultaneous breast enlargement and uplift (augmentation mastopexy) and surgery for male breast enlargement (gynaecomastia).
 

Mr Munot has been certified in cosmetic breast surgery under the Cosmetic Surgery Certification Scheme by the Intercollegiate Cosmetic Surgery Oversight Committee of the Royal College of Surgeons. He has taught on a number of breast reconstruction and cosmetic breast surgery courses.

Research

Mr Munot pioneered a novel innovative therapeutic treatment for granulomatous mastitis of breast, which is a rare, benign but disfiguring inflammatory breast condition. He has devised a completely novel treatment for this complex condition using ultrasound guided aspiration of inflammatory cavity contents followed by instillation of long acting steroids into the inflammatory breast cavity. This has revolutionised the management of this disfiguring condition.


Mr Munot was awarded MD for research in the genetics and epigenetics of breast cancer - ‘Pattern of expression of genes linked to epigenetic silencing in breast cancer – is there evidence for an epigenetic phenotype?’
