About
Mr Woodcock qualified from the University of Leeds Medical School in 1994. His Basic Surgical Training was in Scarborough, followed by a period of research under the supervision of Professor John MacFie, resulting in the award of an MD for his thesis entitled ‘Gut Function in Surgical and Critically Ill patients’ in 2002, and the John Kinney Prize for Nutrition 2001.
He then undertook Higher Surgical Training in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery, and attained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 2005. He achieved his Certificate of Completion of Training in 2006, and was appointed as a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust the same year. He is a Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland (ASGBI).
Mr Woodcock’s specialist interests are inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), intestinal failure, enteric fistula and adjuvant nutritional support. He is a member of both the IBD and Nutrition Multidisciplinary Teams at York and Scarborough Hospitals.

Personal interests
When he is not working Mr Woodcock likes to travel, read, walk, listen to music, and is still just about able to play football. He is a life-long supporter of Liverpool FC.
