Mrs Amy Martin

Mrs Amy Martin first qualified in 2007 from Cardiff met (formerly UWIC). She has worked in both private and NHS posts. She is currently working within the defence medical rehabilitation unit in Wales. Amy also has a private clinic in the South Wales area covering all aspects of foot health. She also supports the Welsh Football Association with their podiatry needs when required.

 Amy is passionate about helping keep people mobile and fit to enjoy their lifestyle or chosen sport whatever the individual's level of ability or participation in sport.

The mechanics of the foot and lower limb contribute significantly to the development of a wide range of lower limb and foot injuries. Some of the common injuries are shin splints, knee pain, Achilles tendinitis, and a variety of problems within the foot itself.

In most cases, some form of orthotic (insole) can be prescribed to correct the abnormal alignment of the foot. This has the effect of altering the forces going up the limb, which allows many injuries to resolve, and more importantly, prevents them from recurring.

She firmly believes in an interdisciplinary approach to injury management and takes a holistic view. She is fortunate enough to work very closely alongside sports medicine consultants, orthopaedic consultants, sports physiotherapists, osteopaths and running coaches.
