Sports Injuries, what to expect:

If you’re a sports professional or amateur and have found yourself injured through sporting activities, The MIHP Sports Injury & Exercise Medicine Clinic provides pioneering specialist care and treatment to individuals looking to get pain-free and sport-fit.

We always start our clinic with a consultation, giving you time with our consultants, for them to find out more about you, the details of your injury and any treatment you have had to date.

At our state-of-the-art facilities in Manchester, you will have access to the latest technologies used in scanning and imaging to assist in the rapid diagnosis of any sports injury. So, you can leave the same day with a diagnostic and a performance-related medical plan.

The plan you will receive will be bespoke to your injury, with the most up-to-date treatment techniques to provide a quicker return to sports and your normal activities. We may also advise you to see other specialists on-site such as Phil Burt and his specialist bike fit offering.

‘Fit to Compete’, what to expect:

Our ‘fit to compete’ assessments start with a consultation, giving you time with our consultants for them to find out more about you and any health concerns you have. You’ll need to provide any relevant personal and family medical history.

If our consultation is happy with the information you have provided, a ‘Fit to Compete’ certificate will be provided to allow you to compete in your upcoming event.

If our consultant has any concerns, they will organise the appropriate tests/investigations to ensure that you can compete in your event without any medical concerns. These tests may include, for example, blood tests, an ECG (heart tracing) or Spirometry (a test for your lung function). We will only do these tests if they are either required for your certification and/or if we believe they are in your best interests.
