All you need to know about our Birmingham Central gym.

What equipment do you have?
We have a large selection of cardio machines, free weights, resistance machines and functional equipment such as TRX, kettlebells, VIPR’s, battle ropes etc. We also have a bouldering wall, boxing zone, lifting platform, sprint track and powerplate.
Is the gym air-conditioned?
Yes, our gym and studios are fully air-conditioned.
I’ve never done an exercise class before. Will the instructor help me?
Yes of course, all of our classes are for all abilities. You will get all the support needed with our experienced and friendly instructors. We recommend arriving 5 minutes early for your class to set up equipment and secure a place. Before the start of the class, the instructor will ask if there are any newcomers, or if anyone has any injuries, so that he or she can assist you.
How big are your classes?
Most classes take up to 16 people – this means the classes don’t feel overcrowded but still have a motivating atmosphere. Take a look at the wide range of classes we offer and try one out.
Do I need to book classes in advance?
Yes – classes bookable online or via our app
Will somebody show me how to use the equipment?
Yes, one of our expert Wellbeing Trainers will give you a full induction of the gym. This includes a personalised exercise programme to help you get the most out of your membership.
What does my gym membership include?
Your Nuffield Health membership includes:- Access to over 110 weekly exercise classes
- A personalised exercise programme when you start
- Use of our 20 metre heated swimming pool

Do I need to pay for a locker?
No, you will just need a padlock. You can bring your own or we do sell padlocks on site.
What changing facilities do you have?
We have spacious male and female changing rooms with large lockers, private showers with complimentary products, and hairdryers. We also have a disabled changing facility.
How busy does the gym get?
The busiest gym times are between 06:30 – 08:30 and 17:30 – 20.30, Monday-Friday.
Please be aware throughout the week we have set times for Aqua classes, Swim Fit classes, 1-2-1 and group swimming lessons and family swim times. These will take up either 1 or 2 lanes when they are on but you will still be able to use the other 2/3 lanes.
Do you have a car park?
Yes, we have free on-site parking for our members and visitors.
Is the pool heated?
Yes, the pool is kept at a comfortable temperature of 29 degrees.
Do you have a sauna or steam room?
Yes, we have a sauna and a steam room to relax in after your workout. We also have 2 poolside spa pools
What should I bring?
You’ll need your membership card to enter the club. We recommend wearing light and comfortable clothing. Please bring a padlock if you need to use a locker. Please bring a towel if needed as we do not provide a rental service for towels here at the Birmingham Central club. A bottle of water is advised to keep you hydrated throughout exercise; you can fill up at one of our water fountains in the gym.
Can I freeze my membership?
If you’re ill, injured, pregnant or made redundant, you can freeze your membership at any time. Further terms and conditions regarding freezing or cancelling your membership can be found here.
