We offer a consultant-led service for diagnosis and treatment of a range of foot and ankle problems from bunions to ankle replacements.

If you need advice, or treatment on any toe, foot or ankle disorder then Nuffield Health York Hospital can offer rapid access to expert opinion and treatment.

Patients are able to book themselves without the need for a GP referral, with many patients opting to pay for their own treatment or use their medical insurance.

What happens in my consultation?

Your consultant will take a full medical history and perform a careful examination of any problem area. They may order additional tests or scans to ensure an accurate diagnosis. Medication and physiotherapy may be prescribed in the first instance.

In some cases, surgery may be recommended.

Paying for your appointment or treatment

An increasing number of patients are choosing to pay for their own treatment or use their private health insurance policies.

When you book an appointment with one of our consultants, you will receive an invoice directly from them, independent of the hospital. For any tests, diagnostic procedures or treatments, you will receive an additional invoice from the hospital. Please ask a member of hospital staff before you agree to any further treatments as they will be able to inform you of any expected fees.

For insured patients, please always discuss any appointments with your insurance provider first, they will provide you with an authorisation number for each step of the journey. If no authorisation has been given to you, there is a risk that you will be liable to pay for your treatment or procedure.
