If you’re a male over 50, we may include a PSA blood test in your Health Assessment package.

A bowel cancer screening is included in some of our Health Assessment packages if you’re over 40.

To make sure your screening results are available on the day of your assessment, please return your test to us at least five working days before your appointment using the prepaid envelope provided. If results aren’t available during your assessment, we’ll either:
- Include them in your Health Assessment report
- Send them via letter
- Have a Health Assessment Doctor communicate them to you

If you’re having a smear test...
In our Health Assessments (360, 360+, or female health), we offer dual testing for cervical smears. This means that your sample will be tested for high-risk Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and cytology.
Smear tests will be offered for anyone aged 25 to 49 years, conducted every three years, and for those aged 50 to 64 years, conducted every five years.
If clinically indicated, a smear test will be offered more frequently.
24 hours before
There are a few things you need to do the day before your Health Assessment:
Fasting
If your assessment includes a blood test, you must fast for 8 to 10 hours before your appointment. All blood tests (including Skin Prick and Venous blood tests) require fasting unless you are diabetic or pregnant.
Click here to check whether your assessment includes a blood test and if fasting is required.
Fasting guidelines:- Non-diabetic – do not eat anything and drink only water for 8-10 hours prior to your appointment
- Diabetic – continue to eat and drink as normal
- Pregnant – only fast if you are comfortable to do so and there are no medical concerns in your pregnancy.
Hydration
Remember to drink plenty of water to help you stay hydrated before your appointment.
This will make it easier to accurately assess your urine and blood samples, along with your blood pressure measurements and any other clinical indicators that are assessed as part of your appointment.
Avoid alcohol, fizzy drinks, and caffeinated beverages, as these can affect your results.
Rest
Rest up the day before your Health Assessment if possible.
This will help prevent exercise affecting your urinalysis, body composition, and blood pressure measurements.
Don’t smoke
Whilst it’s not essential that you avoid smoking or vaping, please be aware that this can impact the results of your Health Assessment.
During your assessment
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed at reception before meeting your dedicated Doctor or Physiologist who specialise in Health Assessments.
Wear comfortable and flexible clothing
Wear comfortable and flexible clothing (loose top/tracksuit/shorts) and trainers as you may need to complete some light exercise during your assessment. Alternatively, you can always bring your exercise clothes with you to change into.
Adjustments for certain tests
During the Health Assessment, for certain tests to be conducted, your clinician may ask you to adjust or remove certain garments.
Your clinician will explain exactly what is involved in each test and you will always be offered a chaperone during your assessment.
Let us know if there’s anything you can’t do
If we advise there is a medical reason why we cannot carry out a specific test, we will tell you why and lay out what to do next.
Please let us know in advance if there is anything that may affect your ability to take part in any of the tests included in your package.
If you’re concerned about your condition, medication, or situation impacting your ability to undergo exercise testing, click below.
-
If you’re having an active ECG or aerobic capacity test…
You will not be able to have the exercise ECG/aerobic capacity test if you have any of these specific conditions or symptoms.
However, if you have booked this module or an appointment including an exercise test and we are unable to conduct the exercise test, we will still conduct a resting Fitness V02max and Physiologist coaching.
