Providing the best possible cancer care in our private oncology unit
Our oncology service consists of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team of surgeons, oncologists, specialist nurses, radiologists, counselling and support groups, who are on hand to provide advice on every aspect of care for patients and relatives throughout the course of treatment. You can speak to any of us at any time, and we are happy to help you by liaising with GPs or other specialists you may need for support.
Cancer can be a frightening illness and access to the best treatment, the best care, and the most up to date advice is critical.
Our cancer care services
We have a world-class team of experts including consultants, surgeons and specialist oncology nurses all committed to ensuring you receive the best care available.
From the moment your consultant advises that you need chemotherapy or other treatment for cancer, our dedicated and caring team will support you in privacy. You'll get to know them and they'll get to know you, which means you won't have to keep explaining things to new people.
After your initial consultation with your Oncologist, you will be offered a pre-treatment appointment. This is an opportunity to meet the nursing staff, view our facilities and ask any questions you may have.
To ensure your care is tailored to your needs, your consultant will supervise your care in conjunction with the Oncology team throughout your entire treatment process. Your treatment pathway may include one or more of the following:
- Surgery
- Chemotherapy
- Hormone therapy
- Biological/targeted therapy
Our holistic approach to cancer care
At Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital we want every aspect of your care throughout your cancer journey to be outstanding and offer practical, emotional and social support through our on-site support services and survivorship programme.
Our Kestrel unit comprises four private en-suite rooms and five spacious individual treatment chair areas, in a calming and welcoming environment.
We provide two designated oncology consulting rooms and a quiet room for use by both patients and relatives following consultation or during treatment. For patient convenience, we have four allocated parking spaces directly outside the private entrance to the unit for oncology use only.
The unit provides a wide range of services to both insured and patients paying for themselves, ranging from chemotherapy, haematology and blood transfusions. The unit is also supported by the hospital with up-to-date diagnostics with MRI and CT scanning available, digital mammography and surgical procedures.
Our dedicated team of highly skilled chemotherapy/oncology nurses provides an excellent support network to those patients undergoing treatment, which also includes a 24 hour on-call service for oncological emergencies.
